6 Inspiring Ways to Romanticize Your Life Everyday
Among the many moments that make up our lives, a few rise above the rest and serve as signposts that help track our journey. We can usually recall without much effort, within our own personal histories, the moments that shape who we are at our core. For example, I remember graduating high school, hang-gliding in Brazil, the moment I became a barber and being trapped in my loft during the covid lockdown. I remember 9/11, my trip to Paris with my mom, and the moment my daughter was born.
But life isn’t just about these big, life altering moments. It’s about the little, mundane ones, too. Like the moments of silence before the rest of your home wakes up… the scent of your favorite candle… the way the steam from your coffee dances as you take your first sip. See, when I talk about ways to romanticize your life, I am definitely not talking about pretending things are perfect. For me, it means embracing the beauty in the ordinary. It’s about slowing down and being present. It’s about finding magic in the seemingly mundane. If you’re ready to turn your everyday routines into something more meaningful, here are some fun ways for you to start romanticizing your life and making it feel indulgent.
1. Start Your Mornings with Intention
Whether you’re a morning person or not, mornings are a great time to reclaim a little time for yourself. Set aside one or two mornings in the week, and instead of jumping right into the rush of the day try getting up a little earlier to enjoy a little something relaxing while setting a positive and inspiring intention for the day. A few examples include lighting an aromatherapy candle while making a big cup of coffee or tea in your favorite mug to get you warmed up for the day; free write into a journal to clear your mind; take a brisk walk to get your blood flowing; play a special morning playlist or take a few minutes to cuddle with your pup, kids, or partner. Regardless to what you choose, create a morning ritual that feels indulgent and not complicated. The way you start your morning can really set the tone for the rest of the day, so why rush? Just take a moment to breathe because the way you start your day matters.
2. Dress Like the Main Character
With the stresses that can come from our daily lives of home, career, family, and whatever else the universe wants to drop on our heads, I can see where it’s easy to want to jump into your comfiest joggers and call it a day… every day lol. However, maybe somewhere shoved in the back of your closet is that jumpsuit that makes your curves look great or a pair of shoes that put a smile on your face. And for reasons I can totally understand, you haven’t looked at them because a fancy dinner, or girl’s night out hasn’t happened in years. But I’m gonna let you in on a little secret… you don’t need a special occasion to wear your favorite outfit. You don’t need a reason to throw on some mascara and that new red lippy. All you really need is the desire to want to feel amazing about yourself! Dress in a way that makes you feel beautiful just because, because why not?! Wear clothes that make you feel good! Whether it’s an effortlessly cool outfit, an oversized cozy sweater, or a statement piece, it’s simple things like this that can instantly change your energy. Because when you dress like someone who loves their life, you start to step into that reality!
3. Elevate Everyday Moments
If you can’t find time to sprinkle in indulgent moments, then just simply turn small daily rituals into something special. We’re talking about ways to romanticize your life, so just think about the things you do anyway and then find ways to elevate them! Don’t just wash your dishes… turn on a personal playlist, sing (or rap) and dance while doing the dishes. Don’t just walk your dog… make the sidewalk your catwalk and strut. Don’t just eat your lunch… plate your food beautifully, pour water into a wine glass, sit outside and let the sunshine hit your face while eating your tuna salad sandwich. Whatever you choose, it’s all about creating moments that make you pause and appreciate life. Remember there is magic in the details… if you’re willing to notice it.
4. Curate a Soundtrack for Your Life
Okay, this is a great one because I am totally guilty of creating different soundtracks for all the events in my life. The chill lo-fi one for mornings, the hype hip hop one for running, the vibey soul one on my way to work, the heavy hardcore one for the gym, the fast punk rock one for the ride home. Music has the power to transform any moment and I love creating playlists for my different moods! So, take a moment, and think about what this would look like for you. What does doing the laundry, picking up the kids, or ending the work week sound like? Get creative with it! Press play and make everything more fun! Make every moment feel cinematic.
5. Romanticize Your Alone Time
The only thing that can compare to being romanced by someone is being romanced by yourself! Haha! Yup, I said what I said! My entire dating life I’ve made a habit of being single as much as I am in relationships, so I’ve truly learned the art of solo adventures. For example, I once I flew to my favorite hotel in L.A. (The Godfrey) to do computer work while sitting poolside just because I thought it was a better view than my living room. I’ve also taken myself on “All Day Dates” where I’d take myself to brunch, then a movie, then a museum, then dinner. I know first-hand just how fun and indulgent hanging out and having fun with yourself can be. Even if getting away isn’t really a possibility, things like sending flowers to yourself, writing yourself gift messages when ordering things online, or creating a sensory experience while taking a bath. Basically, you don’t really need to be in a relationship to feel romance in your life. Treat yourself the way you’d want a partner to treat you because moments alone aren’t just about shutting down for the night. They’re an opportunity to unwind with intention. So, surround yourself with things that make you happy. And the more you indulge in small pleasures, the richer your everyday will be.
6. Slow Down & Be Present
One of the simplest ways to romanticize your life and to make it feel magical is to be fully present and in the moment. Savor the taste of your food, feel the warmth of the sun on your skin, or just take a moment to listen to the little sounds around you. The more you notice, the more beautiful life becomes. Never forget that you don’t need a perfect life to romanticize it. You just need presence. When you stop rushing and just slow down while paying attention to the people you love, the beauty around you, and the little joys woven into each day, you begin to see that magic has always been there.
Before you go…
Remember when finding ways to romanticize your life it doesn’t require a fairy tale setting. It just requires a shift in perspective. When you slow down, appreciate the little things, and treat yourself with the love and care you deserve, everyday life becomes… well… romantic!
So go ahead, light that candle or wear your favorite dress, and romanticize your world. I’m telling you now, you deserve nothing less. Romanticizing your life isn’t about escaping reality, okay? it’s about making reality feel extraordinary. You deserve a life that feels rich, beautiful, and truly yours. So, start today… right now… one small moment at a time.
